Bridge rehabilitation projects to begin in

Boyle and Garrard Counties

Mitchellsburg Road/KY 1856 and Sugar Creek Road/KY 1355

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 28, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of bridge rehabilitation projects for Boyle and Garrard Counties. Repairs will be in effect for the bridges located on Mitchellsburg Road/KY 1856 and Sugar Creek Road/1355. The rehabilitation work will include deck overlays, joint repairs and preventive maintenance.

Monday, March 31 through Friday, May 16

Boyle County

  • the bridge on Mitchellsburg Road/KY 1856 is located over the Chaplin River
  • one lane will be closed at milepoint 8.3 until the project is completed (Mondays through Sundays)
  • one lane will remain open at all times with a temporary traffic signal in place (Mondays through Sundays)
  • work will be in effect Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily

Monday, March 31 through Friday, May 16

Garrard County

  • the two bridges are located on Sugar Creek Road/KY 1355 over Sugar Creek
  • one lane will be closed at milepoint 6.2 until the project is completed (Mondays through Sundays)
  • one lane will remain open at all times with a temporary traffic signal in place (Mondays through Sundays)
  • both bridges will have work in effect at the same time period
  • work will be in effect Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily

Motorists should remain aware of changes for the areas and utilize caution.

All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
