Traffic Impacts for Geotechnical Work on I-71/75 Northbound in Boone and Kenton Counties Beginning Monday, March 24
Expect delays between the working hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
COVINGTON, Ky. (March 24, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of evening/overnight traffic impacts on Interstate 71/75 in Boone and Kenton counties beginning Monday, March 24.
This process includes drilling down from the pavement to the soil, and then injecting polymer to raise sunken slabs in various locations. The end result is a smoother and safer ride for motorists.
Weather permitting, crews will be stabilizing soil and repairing pavement north of the Donaldson Highway (KY 236) overpass (mile point 183.76) in Kenton County on I-71/75 northbound. All work will take place between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. This work is expected to take 2-3 nights.
Traffic Impacts
- I-71/75 northbound triple right lane closure near the project area. A single left lane of traffic will be maintained.
- Merge taper will begin near Burlington Pike (KY 18).
- Turfway Road (KY 1017) on-ramp to I-71/75 northbound will be closed.
- Donaldson Highway (KY 236) off-ramp will be closed.
- The ramp from I-71/75 northbound to I-275 will remain open.
- All lanes/ramps reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning.
Expect delays. KYTC encourages motorists to use navigational apps to plan ahead and find the best alternate route. Please, drive safely through the work zone to keep our crews safe.
These projects are weather dependent. Any changes to the project schedule will be sent via KYTC District 6 social media and on the District 6 Roadshow.
Weather permitting, this project is expected to be completed Wednesday, March 26 at 6 a.m.
