Rolling Work Zone Planned for Interstate 24 Eastbound from 51-65 MM on Thursday. Feb. 27

Traffic will shift to the left or passing lane around the work zone

PADUCAH, Ky. (Feb. 25, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is planning a rolling work zone along eastbound Interstate 24 from the 51 to 65 MM, spanning multiple counties, on Thursday, Feb. 27.

The work zone will be in place from 7 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m.

A team from the Kentucky Transportation Center will deploy ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and conduct an edge-drain video inspection in the right-hand or driving lane of I-24 EB from the 51 to 65 MM, a 14-mile stretch that starts in Lyon County and ends in Trigg County.

Motorists should be alert for trucks with arrow boards guiding traffic to shift into the left-hand or passing lane around the work zone.

Use caution. Some areas may require the crew to work along the shoulder of the right-hand lane in the same spot for an extended period. Other times, the rolling caravan will be moving continuously in the right-hand lane but at speeds as low as 15 mph.

The Kentucky Transportation Center at the University of Kentucky serves as the research arm of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, providing a number of research and support functions for KYTC highway maintenance and construction activities statewide.
