KY 80 closed in Perry County due to worsening break in pavement
No timetable yet established for repairing, reopening the road
JACKSON, Ky. – KY 80 in Perry County has been closed at milepoint 5.71 due to a break in pavement that has worsened to the point that Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers have deemed the road unsafe for travel.
The break developed after Saturday's heavy rainfall and flooding, and one lane of the road was closed on Monday. The decision was made Wednesday afternoon to close the road to all traffic.
The closure is located between KY 2021 (Couchtown Road) and the bridge crossing the North Fork of the Kentucky River. Traffic can detour via KY 451, the Hal Rogers Parkway, and KY 15. Signs, barricades, and electronic message boards are in place to warn drivers of the closure.
No timetable has yet been established for the road to be reopened. Significant repairs will need to be made before the road is safe for traffic.
Approximately 1,250 vehicles use this section of KY 80 each day.
