TRAFFIC ALERT: All Lanes Blocked on I-71 Northbound at 47 Mile Marker in Carroll County
UPDATE: Northbound I-71 traffic to detour using Exit 44 (Carrollton)
UPDATE (9:45 p.m.): Carroll County dispatch confirms the fire is out. First responders are working to clear debris. Once the debris has been cleared, law enforcement will reopen a single left lane of traffic to allow the vehicles between the 44 and 47 mile points past the scene.
Once the queue has been cleared, law enforcement will block I-71 northbound beyond the Carrollton exit (Exit 44). All northbound traffic will then divert off to the Carrollton exit.
The northbound lanes are expected to remain blocked beyond the exit for several hours as crews continue the clean-up process.
DETOUR NOTE: KY 467 east of Worthville remains blocked due to high water. Please, use the detour listed below.
COVINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 18, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists of a traffic alert on Interstate 71 northbound in Carroll County.
A commercial vehicle fire has blocked all lanes on I-71 northbound at the 47 mile marker. The incident is located several miles north of the Carrollton exit.
Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes to avoid delays. Consider taking the Carrollton exit (Exit 44), north on KY 227, right on U.S. 42, to KY 1039, then back on to I-71 northbound.
