New Circle Road Bridge

Thursday, January 30 – Friday, January 31

Expect delays on New Circle Road and Leestown Road

between 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (January 27, 2025)  Construction for the New Circle Road (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington will require temporary overnight lane closures on both New Circle and Leestown Roads on Thursday, Jan. 30 into Friday, Jan. 31. The closures will allow contractors to install new beams on the New Circle Road bridge.

Beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday, contractors will close one lane of Leestown Road at the New Circle Road bridge. At 9 p.m., one lane of the New Circle Outer Loop will be closed at the bridge over Leestown Road. Then, starting at 10 p.m. both Leestown and New Circle Roads will be completely closed, beginning with Leestown Road. Traffic will not be blocked, but all traffic will be diverted onto the interchange ramps to bypass the bridge construction area. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.

Thursday, January 30

  • At 1 p.m., one lane of Leestown Road at the New Circle Road bridge will close.
  • At 9 p.m., one lane of the New Circle Road outer loop at the bridge over Leestown Road will close.
  • At 10 p.m., all lanes of Leestown Road will be closed at the New Circle Road bridge, shortly followed by all lanes of the New Circle Outer Loop in the same area. Police will be present to direct traffic at the Leestown and New Circle ramps.
  • Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.
  • All lanes and ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday morning.

The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington.
