Lane Closure Scheduled for Newtown Pike in

Fayette County Overnight Monday, December 2

Delays possible on Newtown Pike near I-75 Midnight-2 a.m.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 2, 2024)  Construction for the Newtown Pike widening project in Lexington will require a short temporary overnight lane closure on Newtown Pike overnight tonight. The closure will allow contractors to install an overhead truss.

Beginning Monday night at midnight, contractors will close northbound Newtown Pike from Coleman Court to the ramp onto I-75 South for overhead truss installation. The lane will reopen by 2 a.m. Tuesday morning. Southbound Newtown Pike and the ramp from southbound Newtown Pike to I-75 South will remain open.

Overnight Monday, December 2 – Tuesday, December 3

  • Northbound Newtown Pike between Coleman Court and the ramp to I-75 South will close at midnight.
  • Delays are possible, so please plan a different route.
  • The lane will reopen by 2 a.m.

The project to widen a portion of Newtown Pike/KY 922 will improve safety and mobility along a high-traffic corridor in Lexington. The route will be widened from two to three lanes in each direction between New Circle Road/KY 4 and Interstate 75. All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways. 

District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
