IDOT Plans Lane Restrictions for Inspection of I-24 'Ohio River' Bridge Starting Monday, Dec. 2
PADUCAH, Ky. (Nov. 27, 2024) — As a reminder ahead of the holiday weekend, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is planning work zone lane restrictions on the Interstate 24 “Ohio River” Bridge, which connects Metropolis to Paducah, starting Monday, Dec. 2.
Over a two-week period, crews will be inspecting the bridge.
According to IDOT, lane restrictions on eastbound I-24 are expected to start Monday, Dec. 2 at 8 a.m. and end Friday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m., weather permitting.
Lane restrictions on westbound I-24 are expected to start the following week on Monday, Dec. 9 at 8 a.m. and end Friday, Dec. 13 at 5 p.m.
Motorists should be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach the I-24 Bridge.
Illinois State Police or local law enforcement will have extra patrols in the area.
