Jessamine County

The East Nicholasville Bypass/KY 2827

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 22, 2024) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that this news release serves as an update. The newest section of the East Nicholasville Bypass/KY 2827 will open today. The Section 1A is located between Sulfur Well Road/KY 39 and Union Mill Road/KY 169. This is a new route with a distance of 2.09 miles. The section will continue from the previously completed portion of the bypass.

The project includes four lanes with a raised median. A shared use path will be located along the Nicholasville side of the bypass. There will be two multi-lane roundabouts, one located at Sulfur Well Road/KY 39 and the other at Union Mill Road/KY 169. The roundabouts are tailored to suit the lanes for the bypass and the approaches of Sulfur Well Road/KY 39 and Union Mill Road/KY 169.

The purpose of the design is to preserve and enhance the capacity of the US 27 corridor. This bypass section will improve access to the eastern side of Nicholasville and Jessamine County.
