Contractor to repair several sites in the coming months
PIKEVILLE, Ky.(Nov. 1, 2024) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) announces ongoing drilling and road repairs on several routes in Pike County. Contract crews from Blue Rock Inc., are currently focused on KY-805 in the Dorton Creek area at mile point (MP) 1.17.
Blue Rock has deployed two separate crews to expedite repairs, one dedicated to drilling steel and another to cribbing and backfilling. Traffic control measures include automated flaggers and 30 to 45-minute delays when the drilling equipment is in use.
Work is anticipated to be complete as early as Thursday of next week, though the timeline could extend to Friday, pending weather and site conditions.
Motorists should note that no detour is in place at the current worksite on KY 805 as work has moved beyond the KY-197 intersection.
Following KY-805, Blue Rock crews will shift operations to KY-197, addressing a single site near MP 3.668. After completing KY-197, teams will relocate to KY-1469 (Long Fork) and KY-3414 (Left Fork of Long Fork). Work on these routes will include 13 separate repair sites and is expected to last several months.
KYTC advises drivers to remain cautious, anticipate long delays, and follow all posted signs and signals for the safety of road crews and motorists. KYTC will continue to update residents and travelers as progress continues on these repairs.
