TRAFFIC ALERT: All Lanes Blocked on I-471 Northbound and Southbound at the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge in Campbell County Due to Fire
UPDATE: I-471 northbound blocked at I-275 interchange
UPDATE (7:43 a.m.): All I-471 northbound lanes will be blocked at the I-275 interchange. The following is a list of traffic impacts:
- Ramp from I-275 eastbound (at mile point 75.37) and westbound (at mile point 74.55) to I-471 northbound is closed.
- Motorists using KY 471 northbound from Highland Heights will use the ramps to I-275 westbound (mile point 0.453) or eastbound (mile point 0.37). I-471 northbound will be closed at mile point 0.453.
- All I-471 northbound on/off ramps will be closed.
- Alexandria Pike (U.S. 27) exit
- Grand Avenue (KY 1892) exit
- Memorial Parkway (KY 1120) exit
- Dave Cowens Drive (KY 8X) exit
Motorists are advised to use I-275 eastbound or westbound to detour.
COVINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 1, 2024) – All lanes have been blocked on I-471 northbound and southbound at the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge in Campbell County due to a fire. The fire took place under the bridge on the Ohio side of the span.
Traffic on I-471 northbound will be re-routed off at the KY 8X exit (Exit 5 - Bellevue/Dayton). The I-471 northbound closure begins at mile point 4.2 and extends to the Ohio side of I-471 (mile point 5.1). The ramps from I-71 to I-471 southbound, and from U.S. 50 east to I-471 southbound in Ohio have also been closed.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and find an alternate route. Motorists are encouraged to check GoKY in Kentucky, and OHGO in Cincinnati for the latest traffic conditions.
KYTC and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) have bridge inspectors on-site that will begin inspecting the bridge once the fire has been extinguished. No timeline has been provided for when the bridge may reopen to traffic.
