TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Overnight Closure of the East End Tunnel’s Southbound Bore Beginning Sunday, Oct. 27, in Jefferson County
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 25, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of the overnight closure of the East End Tunnel’s southbound bore beginning Sunday, Oct. 27, in Jefferson County.
Contract crews will conduct routine maintenance, requiring a full closure of the tunnel’s southbound bore from Sunday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m., through Monday, Oct. 28, at 6 a.m. As part of this closure, IN 265 East will be closed beyond Exit 11/Utica and River Road in Jeffersonville, IN, restricting access to the Lewis and Clark Bridge and the East End Tunnel’s southbound bore to Louisville, KY. The suggested detour is to take IN 265 West and then Exit 7B to I-65 South to cross the John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge.
Motorists should heed signage, use caution, and adjust their commutes to accommodate the closure.
