Traffic pattern changes for
Richmond, Madison County
EKU Homecoming Events
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 23, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of traffic changes scheduled for Richmond, Madison County. Temporary adjustments will be necessary for Eastern Kentucky University’s Homecoming Events happening near campus October 25 and 26, 2024. The Richmond Police Department and EKU Police will be assisting with traffic.
Friday, Oct. 25 – EKU Homecoming Parade and Water Street Block Party
Note: the sections below will be closed from 5:00 p.m. until approximately 8:00 p.m.
- Lancaster Avenue/KY 52 from the Eastern Bypass/KY 876 to Main Street/US 25X (MP 1.510)
- Main Street/US 25X (MP 1.510) from Lancaster Avenue/KY 52 (MP 1.780) to South Collins Street (city route)
- South Collins Street to Summit Street (city routes)
- Barnes Mill Road at Eastway Drive (city routes)
- Crabbe Street (city route) and Lancaster Avenue/KY 52 (milepoint 11.4)
Note: the sections below will be closed from 5:00 p.m. until approximately 11:00 p.m.
- Water Street (city route) from South Third Street (city route) to South Madison Avenue (city route)
- South Second Street (city route) from Main Street/US 25X to Water Street (city route)
- First Street (city route) from Main Street/US 25X to Water Street (city route)
Saturday, Oct. 26 – EKU Homecoming 5K and Football Game
- The EKU Homecoming 5k Race will begin at 8:00 a.m. and impact traffic on EKU’s campus.
- Tailgating will be located in the Alumni Coliseum parking lot between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. There will be increased traffic on the Eastern Bypass/KY 876 near Lancaster Avenue/KY 52, Alumni Coliseum, and Roy and Sue Kidd Way.
- The EKU Homecoming Football Game will kickoff at 3:00 p.m. There will be an increase in traffic from local and out-of-town visitors near campus and on the Eastern Bypass/KY 876.
Motorists should expect and plan for delays --- heavy traffic is expected.
District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
