Alternating Lane Closures Scheduled for I-64/I-75 in Fayette County Overnight Sunday, October 20 – Thursday, October 24
Expect delays on I-64/I-75 between the Newtown Pike and Paris Pike exits 7 p.m. – 6 a.m.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 17, 2024) – Construction for the I-75 widening project in Lexington will require temporary overnight lane closures on I-64/I-75 on Sunday, Oct. 20 – Thursday, Oct. 24. The closures will allow contractors to pave the interstate.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, contractors will close one lane of I-64/I-75 in each direction between mile marker 113 and mile marker 115 (Paris Pike and Newtown Pike exits). As work progresses throughout the night, contractors will change which lane is closed. Double lane closures, when necessary, will begin after 8:30 p.m. Work will continue throughout the week beginning at 7 p.m. each evening. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. each morning.
Sunday, October 20 – Thursday, October 24
- One lane of I-64/I-75 in each direction will close between the Paris Pike and Newtown Pike exits beginning at 7 p.m.
- Lane closures will alternate throughout the night and throughout the week. Short delays are possible.
- Double lane closures, when necessary, will begin after 8:30 p.m.
- All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning.
The work is part of the I-75 widening project. When complete in 2026, this project will reduce congestion and improve safety throughout the 2-mile corridor from the Newtown Pike exit to the Paris Pike exit. It is the first of two projects to widen I-64/I-75 to four lanes each direction in Fayette County. Find more information online at DrivingLexingtonProgress.org.
All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
