Routine Inspection of the U.S. 27 Taylor Southgate Bridge in Campbell County to Begin Monday, Oct. 14
No anticipated lane or sidewalk closures during inspection period
COVINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 11, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 6 Office announces a routine bridge inspection on the U.S. 27 Taylor Southgate Bridge (22.5 - 22.7 mile point), which carries U.S. 27 traffic in Campbell County over the Ohio River, will begin on Monday, Oct. 14.
Crews will begin an inspection on the Taylor Southgate Bridge on Monday, Oct. 14. Work will mainly be performed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily; however, bridge inspectors may perform work beyond 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14 through Wednesday, Oct. 16 to mitigate any traffic disruptions due to the upcoming BLINK art festival.
There will be no lane closures to motorists, and sidewalks will remain open on both the east and west side of the bridge; however, crews will be using a rope access, and fall-arrest structure climbing technique staged from the sidewalk and from beneath the bridge.
Pedestrians should use extra caution when using the sidewalk during the inspection, due to equipment, crews and walkways.
Weather permitting, this work is expected to be completed by Friday, Oct. 18.
The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists can get Northern Kentucky road construction updates on District 6 Road Report.
