TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Weekend Closure of I-64 West Off-Ramp to U.S. 127 North Beginning Friday, Oct. 11, in Franklin County
New ramp alignment to be in place upon reopening
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 9, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of the permanent closure of the existing off-ramp from Interstate 64 West to U.S. 127 North (Lawrenceburg Road) at Exit 53B beginning Friday, Oct. 11, in Franklin County.
Beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, the existing off-ramp will be permanently closed as part of the ongoing interchange improvement project at I-64 and U.S. 127. The newly aligned off-ramp is scheduled to open by 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14 (see map below of new ramp alignment).
This project involves realigning both the I-64 West off-ramp to U.S. 127 North and the I-64 West on-ramp from U.S. 127. Additional enhancements include a new signalized intersection on U.S. 127, which will improve access to nearby developments once activated after construction. The project also includes the reconstruction of the Westridge Drive and Leonardwood Drive intersection to allow for dual left turns from U.S. 127 onto Westridge Drive.
The $4 million project, which began in August, is expected to be completed by summer 2025.
Motorists should follow the posted detour and plan ahead when traveling.
