UPDATE: KY 107 in Christian County Reopened
Normal traffic flow has resumed following culvert replacement
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (September 10, 2024) – As a safety precaution, Transportation Cabinet maintenance personnel blocked part of KY 107 in Christian County on Tuesday to replace a deteriorated drainage pipe. Work was completed just before 11 a.m. today and the roadway has reopened.
The highway was closed after a deteriorated drainage pipe led to a small void beneath KY 107, which caused a depression to form in the asphalt resulting in a hole, much like a pothole. Deterioration of highway cross drains can occur because age of the pipe, weather, or other environmental factors.
The Christian County maintenance crew cut through the roadway to remove and replace the pipe yesterday, then covered it with asphalt base material. That material had to set overnight. Crews went back this morning to complete the resurfacing work.
