Paving Planned on U.S. 60 on the East Side of Owensboro
Project schedule to last from Sept. 9 - 18
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (September 3, 2024) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to begin paving four and a half miles of U.S. 60 on the east side of Owensboro later this week. Work is planned in both eastbound and westbound lanes.
The project, which was originally slated to begin Monday, August 12, will now commence on Friday, September 9 and continue through Sept. 18 with an anticipated 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule each day.
New asphalt will be applied to U.S. 60 between KY 54 (18.7 mm) and KY 2830 (23.3 mm) to repair cracking and fatigue within the existing roadway.
The contractor will be closing one lane at a time, with milling scheduled to begin in the left lane of U.S. 60 between the KY 2830 overpass (23.3 mm) and the KY1456 (Reid Road) overpass (21.5 mm) on Friday.
Work for the entire project is expected to follow the same schedule each day, with milling operations in the morning and paving in the afternoon. Due to the presence of on/off ramps and other factors, paving will take longer than the milling process so paving will not be completed each day. Motorists should remain alert for traffic signage alerting them to changes in traffic flow and lane restrictions.
