Traffic Advisory: US 150 Safety Improvement Project Begins in Washington County
Varying traffic patterns will be in place through November 2024
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (Aug. 16, 2024) – Safety improvements to a section of US 150 in Washington County are beginning with preliminary work along right of way. The project includes grade and widening work between the intersections of KY 1872 (Old Fredericktown-Bardstown Road) and Mayfield Lane. This stretch of US 150 is traveled by approximately 9,000 vehicles per day.
Contract crews will begin with clearing work along right of way areas over the next few weeks before grading work takes place. The majority of paving work will take place next year. Traffic impacts will vary throughout the duration of the project with lane shifts and temporary blockages but both lanes are to be open for peak commute hours Monday through Friday 6am-8am and 3pm-6pm. Access to entrances will be maintained.
The $19.5 million contract was awarded to Louisville Paving Company, Inc. last month and has a completion date of November 1st, 2025.
Updates on the project will be released through local media and social media. Follow Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 4 accounts @KYTCDistrict4.
The project is the first in Washington County to be constructed as part of a 2019 corridor study of US 150 between Bardstown and Springfield.
