Three Resurfacing Projects in Gallatin County Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 13

Contractors will be paving portions of KY 455, U.S. 127 and KY 16

CORRECTION: the original press release stated U.S. 127 was Big Sugar Road. This was an error. The area of U.S. 127 that will be paved begins at the Owen/Gallatin County line (0.0 mile point) extending north to Old U.S. 127 (3.34 mile point), a distance of 3.34 miles. This section of road includes U.S. 127 through Glencoe.

COVINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 12, 2024) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 6 Office announces three resurfacing projects in Gallatin County beginning Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Project Locations:

  • Glencoe Verona Road (KY 16) beginning at U.S. 127 (0.0 mile point) extending north to KY 455 (0.60 mile point), a distance of 0.60 miles.
  • U.S. 127 beginning at the Owen/Gallatin County line (0.0 mile point) extending north to Old U.S. 127 (3.34 mile point), a distance of 3.34 miles.
  • Johnson Road (KY 455) beginning at the north end of the Interstate 71 bridge (2.20 mile point) extending north to about a mile north of KY 465 (4.11 mile point), a distance of 1.91 miles.

Construction signage will be installed throughout the project limits on Tuesday, Aug. 13 with paving/milling operations to follow. Additionally, sidewalk work is scheduled for U.S. 127.

Motorists should expect single lane closures during daytime working hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Flaggers will be in place to guide traffic safely through the work zone. 

Please drive carefully through the project area. Motorists are advised to find an alternate route to avoid potential delays.

The $704,914 project was awarded to Hinkle Contracting Company, LLC, of Paris, KY. Weather permitting, the project has an expected completion date of Nov. 15, 2024.       

The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
