UPDATE:  U.S. 62 is Closed for RR Overpass Repairs in West McCracken County

RR bridge damaged by overnight crash
Estimated duration is 3 to 5 hours

PADUCAH, Ky. (July 25, 2024)  U.S. 62 is closed to allow repairs to a railroad overpass at the 5.9 mile marker in western McCracken County.

U.S. 62 is closed to allow emergency repairs to a railroad overpass that was struck by an overnight crash that damage several of the bridge supports. This is along U.S. 62 (Blandville Road) between KY 305 (Fisher Road) and KY 786 (Buchanan Road).

Railroad inspectors determined that the bridge required immediate repairs before rail traffic can resume.  A Canadian Railroad (CNRR) crew arrived at the site and started work about 7:30 a.m.

Estimated duration is expected to be about 3 to 5 hours.

Eastbound U.S. 62 truck traffic is being detoured to U.S. 60 via Holt Road.

Westbound U.S. 62 truck traffic is being detoured at the U.S. 62/KY 286 intersection.  Westbound passenger vehicle traffic is being detoured at Childress Road.   Vehicles traveling from the Wickliffe area to Paducah should take U.S. 60 to avoid backups at the detour points.

Updates as information becomes available.
