New Traffic Control Measures at KY 22 (Ballardsville Road) and KY 146 (La Grange Road) Intersection in Oldham County
Installation of all-way stop control scheduled for next week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 25, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an upcoming change in traffic control measures at the intersection of KY 22 (Ballardsville Road) and KY 146 (La Grange Road) in Oldham County. Upon review of traffic volumes and crash data, the intersection will soon be upgraded to an all-way stop condition.
The existing intersection signage allows motorists traveling eastbound on KY 22 and westbound on KY 146 to proceed freely through the intersection. Recent traffic counts show that volumes on KY 22 and KY 146 are approximately equal, supporting an all-way stop condition.
The all-way stop condition will enhance safety at the intersection and minimize delays by eliminating unnecessary turning movements. Slowing traffic will create essential gaps for turning movements to occur, reducing the risk of crashes.
Implementation of the all-way stop condition at KY 22 and KY 146 will take place on Thursday, August 1. KYTC crews will install signage, pavement markings and flexible delineator at the intersection as part of the new traffic control measures. Temporary "New Traffic Pattern Ahead" and "Stop Ahead" signs will be installed to alert motorists of the change in the stop condition.
Motorists should heed signage, use caution and be prepared to stop.
The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
