ALERT: U.S. 62 to Close for RR Overpass Repairs in West McCracken County This Morning
RR bridge damaged by overnight crash
PADUCAH, Ky. (July 25, 2024) – U.S. 62 is expected to be closed for several hours this morning to allow repairs to a railroad overpass in western McCracken County.
U.S. 62 is expected to close to allow repairs to a railroad overpass at 5.9 mile point. This is along U.S. 62 (Blandville Road) between KY 305 (Fisher Road) and KY 786 (Buchanan Road).
The bridge support structure was damaged by an overnight crash on U.S. 62.
Railroad inspectors have determined that the bridge will have to be repaired before rail traffic can resume. A rail crew is en route to the site and work is expected to begin work sometime after 7 a.m., CDT.
Canadian National Railroad has indicated they will provide about a 45 minute notice before U.S. 62 is blocked at the site.
Estimated duration is expected to be about 4 to 6 hours.
Eastbound U.S. 62 traffic will be detoured to U.S. 60 via Holt Road.
Westbound U.S. 62 traffic should travel U.S. 60 between Wickliffe and Paducah.
A more specific start time for this closure of U.S. 62 will be provided as it becomes available.
