Bridge Replacement on US 62 at the Hardin/Nelson County Line Begins Next Week

Motorists will utilize Bluegrass Parkway around the closure

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (July 15, 2024)  In making needed bridge infrastructure improvements along US 62 over Slough of Rolling Fork around the Hardin/Nelson County Line, demolition and replacement are scheduled to begin Monday, July 22nd. Full closure will allow the project to be completed as quickly as possible.

Motorists on the west side of the bridge will travel via US 62 to I-65 (or KY 583 to Bluegrass Parkway to I-65 as a final detour point if traveling eastbound US 62) in Elizabethtown and use Bluegrass Parkway eastbound toward Bardstown and Lexington. Motorists on the east side of the bridge will be able to utilize KY 52 to and from Bluegrass Parkway. Electronic message boards are in place along the corridor to provide advance notice of upcoming work.

The bridge replacement contract was awarded in early March to E & B Paving, LLC for the amount of $2.38 million. The project contract includes a 90-days closure with an expected opening date around September 20th.
