PADUCAH, KY (June 21, 2024) -- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet anticipates ongoing work zone construction and long-term maintenance activities at the following locations District 1 will impact traffic during the week of June 23-29.

More detailed information on these work zones (including maps) can be found on our Facebook page listed below.

I-24 Paving & Rehab 29 to 33mm in Livingston County (UPDATE)
This work zone with lane restrictions for rehab work and paving will generally be active from 6 p.m., to 6 a.m., each night, from the 29.54mm at the Tennessee River Bridge, extending eastward to the 33.6mm near the Cumberland River Bridge. It connects with a work zone on the I-24 TN River Bridge.   There is a 55 mph speed limit, enhanced enforcement, and interactive signage.  Due to potential work zone delays, consider a self-detour via U.S. 62 between Exit 40 and Exit 27 during peak travel periods.  Watch for updates. Lane restrictions will be removed for July 4th Holiday driving.  Target completion date is Aug 1, 2024.

I-24 Tennessee River Bridge at 29mm
This work zone includes 11-ft lane width restrictions for eastbound and westbound traffic on the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge at the 29mm.  There is an 8 ft.-6 in. max load width and 13 ft- 6 in. max height restriction, a 55 MPH speed limit, enhanced enforcement, double fines, and a concrete barrier wall.  Local commuters should consider a self-detour via U.S. 62 between Exit 27 and Exit 40 during peak travel.  Watch for updates.  Target for completion is Dec 1, 2024.

I-24 at 52mm & 56mm (NEW)
Watch for work zone lane restrictions along I-24 at the 52 mile marker and the 56 mile marker this week for both eastbound and westbound traffic.  All traffic will move to the right-hand or driving lane to allow a crew to mill out paved construction crossovers.  Material from the sites will be used for construction of a new salt dome and equipment staging area just off KY 1523 at the I-24/I-69 Exit 24 Interchange at Calvert City.

I-69 Night Work Zone for Crack Sealing in Lyon County (UPDATE)
A night work zone for crack sealing along I-69 in Lyon County between I-24 and the Lyon-Caldwell County Line continues this week.  Watch for additional crack sealing work with additional work along I-24 in Lyon County and U.S. 641 in Crittenden County to be scheduled in coming weeks.

I-24 Mowing Zone (UPDATE)
A crew is working along I-24 near Paducah.  This crew is mowing some connecting 4-lane sections in McCracken County.  Please slow down and use extra caution anytime you enter a mowing zone where tractors and equipment may have to cross travel lanes from time to time as operators go about their work
