Planning Study Public Meeting Set for U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) in Jefferson County

The public is invited to review and comment on corridor transportation needs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 11, 2024) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will hold a public meeting Tuesday, June 25, to inform residents and gather input on a planning study for U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) in Jefferson County that will help develop a prioritized plan of improvement concepts for the heavily-traveled state highway corridor.

The study includes input about and analysis of transportation operations along Bardstown Road from the Bullitt County line to KY 1065 (Beulah Church Road-Seatonville Road), including the I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) interchange.

The June 25 public meeting will be an open-house event held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Bates Elementary School, 7601 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Ky. Those who are interested may drop in any time to review study information, discuss the study with the project team, and provide input. There will not be a formal presentation. Representatives from KYTC and consultant engineers will be in attendance to answer questions.

Through the study, information will be gathered to help develop improvement concepts that consider transportation needs, environmental and economic benefits and impacts, cost, and public input.

An online survey will be made available following the public meeting. Input received from the public meeting and survey efforts will be compiled and considered as potential study concepts are developed. Outreach will continue throughout the course of the study, with a second public meeting anticipated in the fall to collect input on potential improvement concepts. A final report is expected to be published by April 2025. To access the survey and study information please visit Highway District 5 | KYTC.

All written comments will become part of the official meeting record. Once compiled, the meeting record and supporting documentation will be made available for review and copying only after an Open Records Request has been received and approved. All Open Records Requests must be submitted to the Transportation Cabinet, Office of Legal Services, Transportation Office Building (200 Metro St, Frankfort, KY 40622), or via kytc.openrecords@ky.gov.
