US 60 and Carter Rd Reopen Following Crash
Lane restrictions to remain in place
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (June 7, 2024) – US 60 westbound and KY 2698 (Carter Road) northbound in Owensboro have reopened with lane restrictions after the Carter Road overpass was struck this morning by a commercial vehicle carrying a forklift.
US 60 westbound and Carter Road northbound are each reduced to one lane pending further assessment of the bridge’s condition.
KYTC will do more work on the overpass on Monday with plans to reopen both lanes of US 60 westbound. Carter Road will likely remain restricted until repairs can be made to the damaged bridge.
Work conducted while the blockage was in place today was only to allow both roadways to be reopened, further repairs will still be required. The KYTC hopes to have a repair plan in place by the end of next week.
Motorists are urged to plan for delays if they plan to use either roadway while restrictions are in place.
