Lane Closure Planned for Leestown Road Overnight Tuesday, June 4
Expect flagged traffic near Lisle Industrial Avenue 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 4, 2024) – Construction for the New Circle Road/KY 4 widening project in Lexington will require a temporary lane closure and flagged traffic on part of Leestown Road (KY 421) overnight Tuesday through early Wednesday morning.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, contractors will close one lane on Leestown Road near Lisle Industrial Avenue and flag all traffic until 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, according to the following schedule:
- One lane of Leestown Road will close between milepoint 1.0 (just south of Forbes Road) and milepoint 1.4 (Boiling Springs Drive). Motorists will alternate using the remaining lane in each direction.
- Flaggers will direct all traffic. Motorists should heed all directions and signs, expect delays or use alternate routes if possible.
- All lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 5.
The work is part of the New Circle Road/KY 4 widening project. When complete in 2027, this project will increase capacity and operation of New Circle Road/KY 4 and the Leestown interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area.
Construction and lane closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Kentucky Department of Highways District 7.
District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford counties.
