UPDATE:  Storm Response Across West KY Counties

Update at 1:15 p.m., CDT

PADUCAH, Ky. (May 26, 2024)  Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 1 Highway Crews are making headway in the response to downed trees and power lines from two organized lines of thunderstorms moving through the region this morning.

Many of the locations where trees were reported down have been cleared.  However, KYTC crews will have to await the arrival of utility crews to clear power lines before some roadways can reopen.  

Here is the latest update:

Carlisle County
KY 80 is open between Arlington and Milburn between the 3 and 10mm where trees have been cleared
KY 877 is open near the 3mm at the KY 1591 intersection - trees removed
KY 80 is blocked by floodwaters at the 2.9mm near Railroad Street in the West End area at Arlington - Signs posted
KY 1820 is blocked by floodwaters at the 1-2mm - Signs posted
KY 1628 is blocked by floodwaters at the  3-4mm - Signs posted

Fulton County
The Dorena-Hickman Ferry is closed due to weather conditions

Lyon County
I-24 is open near the 45 mile marker where a large tree was blown into the roadway
U.S. 641 is blocked north of Eddyville near the 6mm at the Lyon-Caldwell County line where utility lines and trees are down
KY 93 South of Eddyville is blocked at several locations between KY 293 and the Lyon-Trigg County Line
U.S. 62 is blocked by downed trees and power lines from the 0.0 to the 6mm between Lake City and Kuttawa
KY 1943/Skinframe Creek Road is blocked by floodwaters at the 3.4mm at the Skinframe Creek Bridge - Signs posted

McCracken County
KY 284/Benton Road is blocked by downed trees and power lines at the 2 to 4 mm between Paducah's Southside and Reidland
KY 994/Old Mayfield Road has trees down at several locations in the southern part of the county
KY 1241 is open where two large oak trees were down in the St. Johns area near the 1 to 2 mile marker
KY 450/Oaks Road is blocked by downed trees and power lines near the 4.2mm immediately south of the KY 3075/Liden Rd/Shehan Bridge Road intersection

Marshall County
KY 1949/Wadesboro Rd is blocked at the 8 to the 9mm between KY 408/Oak Level Rd and Woodall Cutoff Road due to downed trees and power lines
All others reported as open

Trigg County
Trees are reported down all over the county earlier in the day.  Crews are making progress.

Due to the number of roadways blocked by downed trees and power lines, travel is not advised until crews have had time to clear roadways.  Please be aware of your localized weather conditions.  Another line of thunderstorms and severe weather is possible tonight with a 6 p.m., to 8 p.m., arrival time in the Paducah area.
