Two Blocked Lanes on I-65 South to Reopen Tonight in Jefferson County
Crews completed bridge deck repairs to address break in pavement
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 22, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) crews today blocked two lanes of southbound traffic on I-65 bridge over the Brook Street/Muhammad Ali Boulevard intersection to allow for bridge deck repairs to address a break in pavement on the high-volume road in Jefferson County. Two lanes on Brook Street were also blocked as a precaution but have since reopened to traffic. A single southbound lane remains open on the bridge while concrete cures at the repair locations. The two blocked bridge lanes are expected to reopen tonight.
Crews today removed a small amount of concrete before placing high-strength concrete to fill the space. Crews proactively poured new concrete at two other locations on the bridge that had minor concrete breaks.
Motorists are advised to slow down and proceed through the work zone with caution.
