Road project schedule for the week of April 28 - May 4
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (April 26, 2024) –The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet anticipates work zone construction and maintenance activities at the following locations in District 2 could impact traffic during the week of April 28-May 4.
Mowing operations should be expected in all counties beginning Monday.
Daviess County -- Kentucky Transportation Cabinet personnel will be focused primarily on mowing operations all week. Mowing will start on Monday on KY 144 at the Hancock County line and continue westward to KY 1456 and KY 54. As the week progresses they will mow Foors Lane and Fairview Drive before moving on to US 231, Carter Road and KY 331. There will also be a brush removal operation on KY 298.
Hancock County -- Crews will be working on brush removal along US 60, KY 334, KY 2181, KY 1700 and KY 69 beginning on Monday, with flaggers possible in some locations. On Thursday KYTC will be ditching KY 2181between the 8.4 and 8.5 mile markers with lane restrictions and flaggers in place. Potholing work on various roads around the county will take place on Friday.
Henderson County -- Beginning Monday, US 41 South will be restricted to one lane near Audubon Parkway all week and US 41 North and South at KY 351 will have overnight short-term closures. These will be between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. and last about 15 minutes each to get new powerlines across US 41.
Hopkins County -- KYTC will be performing shoulder work on KY 2273 between the 2 and 3 mile markers Monday through Wednesday, with lane restrictions expected. On Thursday and Friday they will be performing cross drain replacement and ditching on KY 262 between the 1 and 2 mile markers.
Ohio County -- Mowing along KY 54 is expected to take place all week. KYTC also plans to install new culverts on KY 1414 and KY 1543 on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Motorists should expect lane restrictions with flaggers. Ditching operations on KY 1414 will begin on Wednesday and last the remainder of the week.
Other things of note:
US 231 sign replacement --The KYTC sign crew will be installing signs along US 231 in Daviess, Hancock and Ohio counties on Tuesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 1.
I-24 Welcome Center Closed at KY-TN State Line -- The Christian County Welcome Center along I-24 Westbound near the 92mm at the KY-TN State Line is schedule to fully reopen on Monday, April 29, 2024.
I-24 Paving & Rehab 29 to 33mm in Livingston County -- This 4.12 mile roadway rehabilitation project runs from the 29.54mm at the Tennessee River Bridge, extending eastward to the 33.664mm near the Cumberland River Bridge. It connects with a work zone on the I-24 TN River Bridge. Milling and base repairs will be completed to allow all lanes to open for Memorial Day Holiday travel. The contractor will take another break for July 4th Holiday travel. There is a 55-mile-per-hour speed limit, enhanced enforcement, and interactive signage. To avoid delays, consider a self-detour via U.S. 62 between Exit 40 and Exit 27. Construction activities may require some overnight closures. Watch for updates. Target completion date is August 1, 2024.
I-24 Tennessee River Bridge at 29mm --This work zone includes a traffic shift with two-11 ft. travel lanes for both eastbound and westbound traffic on the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge at the 29mm. There is an 8 ft.-6 in. max load width and 13 ft- 6 in. max height restriction, a 55 MPH speed limit, enhanced enforcement, double fines, and a concrete barrier wall. During peak travel, local commuters should consider a self-detour via U.S. 62 between Exit 27 and Exit 40. Some occasional lane restrictions will be required at night and on weekends as construction progresses. Target for completion is Dec 1, 2024.
I-24 Work Zones in Trigg Count -- An eastbound work zone lane restriction on I-24 from the 67 to 65mm in Trigg County for concrete pavement repairs is expected to come down around Tuesday, April 30. Starting Wednesday, May 1, watch for westbound restrictions from the 66.5mm to the 65mm. This work zone will move into Lyon County in coming weeks.
