PADUCAH, KY (Feb. 23, 2024) -- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet anticipates ongoing work zone construction and long-term maintenance activities at the following locations will impact traffic during the week of Feb 25-March 2. More detailed information on these work zones with maps can be found on our Facebook page listed below.

Westbound traffic continues to be restricted to one lane.  There is an 8 ft.-6 in. max load width and 13.5 ft. max height restriction, a 55 MPH speed limit, enhanced enforcement, double fines, and a concrete barrier wall.  There is interactive monitoring to alert motorists to traffic backups - Watch message boards on approach.  During peak travel, local commuters should consider a self-detour via U.S. 62 and KY 453. Be alert for frequent updates on the traffic configuration through March.  Target for completion of this bridge rehab project is Dec 1, 2024.

I-24 Westbound at 91mm in Christian County (NEW)

I-69 Northbound at 70mm in Lyon County (Ongoing)
A brush clearing is working along I-69 Northbound in Lyon County.  While much of the work is along the right-of-way without lane restrictions, this daytime work zone will extend about 1/2 mile and move from time to time as work progresses.  Once the crew reaches the Lyon-Caldwell County Line at the 76.3mm, they will then move to the southbound lanes and work back to the I-69/I-24 Exit 68 Interchange.

KY 239 Closed near Hickman-Fulton County Line (Ongoing)
KY 239 is closed between the 0 and 1mm immediately north of the Hickman-Fulton County Line between Clinton and Cayce, where the pavement deteriorated following the recent round of freezing and thawing. Concrete pavement repairs have started and are expected to take about 10 days to complete, weather permitting. There is a marked detour via U.S. 51 and KY 94.  There have been several reports of people moving barricades and driving through the closed section.  As a reminder, you can be cited for moving road-closed barricades and traveling on closed roadways.  Doing so may result in damage to your vehicle and may also invalidate your auto insurance.

KY 121 Work Zone near the Graves-Carlisle County Line (UPDATE)
KY 121 continues to be restricted to one lane with alternating flow controlled by an automated signal near the 20-mile marker in Graves County.  A 250-foot section of waffled pavement has been replaced with a 10-inch layer of concrete.  The concrete is being allowed to cure, and the work zone restrictions are expected to come down at 5 a.m. CST on Monday, Feb. 26.

Properly Secure Trash & Debris When Hauling on State Highways
KYTC reminds motorists hauling trash or debris to properly secure their loads while traveling along state highways.  Highway crews have seen an increase in roadside litter, especially along a 10-mile section of I-69 in northern Marshall County. Crews recently removed debris between the U.S. 641-Spur Exit 41 interchange and the I-24 Exit 25 interchange near Calvert City.   Under Kentucky law (KRS 189.150), loads of debris or trash must be “covered with a device suitable for prevention of spillage.” Violators of that law and of any littering or open dumping statutes could face criminal or civil fines.  The Kentucky State Police and Marshall County Sheriff’s Department are stepping up enforcement.
