Additional Traffic Signals in Downtown Mayfield to Start Red Flash Mode on Monday to Prep for Full Activation in 30 Days
Signals along KY 80, KY 58, and KY 121
PADUCAH, Ky. (February 8, 2024) – Contractors for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) are continuing efforts to reconstruct and restore traffic signals in downtown Mayfield that were destroyed by the December 2021 tornado.
The following signals are scheduled to go into red flash mode for 30 days starting on Monday, Feb., 3:
- KY 80-Business/Wests Broadway at 9th Street
- KY 58/East Broadway at KY 121-Business/6th Street
- KY 121-Business/South 6th Street at East South Street
- KY 121/South 6th Street at East Water Street
Many of the intersections in downtown Mayfield have functioned as ALL-Way Stops since traffic signal control systems and supports were destroyed by the December 2021 tornado. These intersections will continue to function as ALL-Way Stops while the signals are in red flash mode.
The 30 days in flash mode will allow drivers to become reacquainted with the signals and their locations while allowing technicians to monitor operation of the signal controllers. The signals are expected to go into full green-yellow-red mode around March 12.
KYTC District 1 will provide advance notice when the signals are ready to go into full service.
