KYTC District 7 prepared for next weather change

Wintry mix forecasted for Central Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 5, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that the forecast is being monitored closely by the D7 Office. Weather information stations across Kentucky provide data to the Transportation Operations Center in Frankfort.

The TOC is staffed 24 hours per day and distributes information to the twelve highway districts across the state. The 12 counties in District 7 are assessed individually based on terrain and temperatures.

The National Weather Service advises that a storm system could bring snow and rain late tonight and into Saturday morning. Temperatures could be low enough for snow to accumulate. The ground temperatures are expected to be at or above freezing. Slush may form in areas where snowfall occurs.

District 7 snow and ice personnel are on standby and will report for duty as  necessary to patrol and treat roadways. Motorists are advised to be on alert for possible hazardous driving conditions.
