Waterline work is nearing completion; traffic impacts are scheduled after the Fourth of July Holiday.

PIKE COUNTY (June 30, 2023) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises the public of lane closures and reduced speeds along KY 194 in Pike County for phase two of a highway safety improvement project near Kimper Elementary. The project begins at the entrance of Kimper Elementary near mile point 25.0 (2.0 miles north of Ky 632) and extends for half a mile along KY 194.

During phase one, crews relocated water and other utilities and improved drainage along KY 194. Phase two will consist of constructing a right turn lane while widening the existing lanes to improve turns and congestion along KY 194. Crews will also install a chain link fence along the right of way as part of the project to enhance safety in and around the school. Asphalt resurfacing will take place once the construction phase is complete.

Lane Restrictions and work zone speed reductions will begin later next week. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with weekend work possible. Traffic control will remain until the project is complete in approximately 4-6 weeks.

Motorists traveling in the area should heed warning signs, slow down and be aware of workers and construction equipment.

Mountain Enterprises has been contracted to perform the work. Schedules are subject to weather conditions.
