One-lane traffic, reduced lane widths, and barrier wall installation begin Tuesday, June 13
KNOTT COUNTY (June 9, 2023) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists of one-lane traffic and lane reductions for bridge repairs along Ky 15 in Knott County. The bridge is located at mile point 5.6 (1.6 miles East of KY 160) over Carr Fork Lake.
On Tuesday, June,13, crews will begin a deck repair project by installing a barrier wall between the north and southbound lanes along the bridge. This wall will restrict lane widths to just under 12ft and is needed so crews can work safely away from traffic. Motorists will experience longer delays on Tuesday, June 13th, due to equipment staging and wall installation.
Repairs will take place in two stages. Stage one traffic will continue to move along the Southbound lane controlled by temporary signals lights.
Once repairs are complete, crews will move to stage two, where traffic will be rerouted to the Northbound lane.
Boaters are encouraged to pay close attention to signage and buoys under the bridge, as lake traffic will be restricted in areas during the project.
Crews will work Monday through Friday, with some weekend work possible during the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Traffic control will remain in place during the project's duration. The project is expected to be completed in December of 2023.
Hayden Bridge Company has been contracted to perform the work. Schedules are based on weather conditions.
