KYTC District 5 Announces

New Public Information Officer

Morgan Woodrum joining the Department of Highways

LOUISVILLE, KY (June 8, 2023) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Department of Highways office welcomes Morgan Woodrum to serve as its new public information officer (PIO), effective June 1. KYTC District 5 proudly serves Bullitt, Franklin, Henry, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Trimble counties.

“I’m thrilled to join the dedicated team a part of KYTC District 5,” said Woodrum, who started last week. “I’m looking forward to utilizing the skills and knowledge I obtained during my tenure with Metro Government and continuing to serve my hometown and surrounding counties.”

Woodrum, a Louisville native, obtained her Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism from Western Kentucky University before returning home to serve in the public sector with Louisville Metro Government. Her most recent role as public information supervisor with Louisville Parks and Recreation allowed her to work with city leaders and internal/external agencies – all while building and maintaining strong relationships with members of the media. During her time with the parks department, she spearheaded the planning and execution of several community-wide events, including the creation of the annual Art in the Park event taking place each July since 2020.

“Morgan is an excellent addition to our team,” said Chief District Engineer Matt Bullock. “We’re pleased she brought her talents to our district. Her expertise will be a major asset in our district’s communication strategy.”

Each of Kentucky’s 12 highway districts is assigned a public information officer, charged with handling transportation-related media and public communications, promotional campaigns, special events, educational materials, a district website, and district social media.
