Pedestrian Crossing Flasher Installed on U.S. 68-Business Near Trigg County High School
Solar-powered flasher aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety
PADUCAH, Ky. (Feb. 2, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has installed a new pedestrian crossing flasher on U.S. 68-Business/Main Street in Cadiz immediately at the Cardinal Drive intersection.
The solar-powered flasher includes an activation feature for yellow strobe lights to alert approaching motorists that a pedestrian is entering the crosswalk. The walkway is frequently used for pedestrian travel between the Trigg County High School Complex and the Trigg County Board of Education offices.
The crosswalk is at U.S. 68-Business mile point 2.899 between the Trigg County High School Drop-off Road and School Street. Approximately 7,300 vehicles travel this section of U.S. 68-Business/Main Street in an average day.
While the new pedestrian crossing alert enhances safety for pedestrians crossing U.S. 68-Business/Main Street, drivers are reminded that they are required to yield to pedestrians when they enter a marked crosswalk.
The new pedestrian crossing alert system was installed and activated on Wednesday.
