Snow removal operations

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 24, 2022) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises that this news release serves as an update. A shift change took place at 12 a.m. (midnight) and District 7 personnel continue today plowing and treating routes.

The 12 counties in the district are assessed and treated individually. Several items are taken into consideration including terrain, air and pavement temperatures.

Weather information stations across Kentucky provide data to the Transportation Operations Center in Frankfort. The TOC is staffed 24 hours a day and distributes information to the twelve highway districts across the state.

Currently, the temperature is near zero degrees for the district. Partly sunny skies are predicted today with temperatures rising into the mid-teens and lower 20s. This evening will be very cold again with lows in the single digits.
