Crews Continue Paving Operations on KY 3159 (Ted Bushelman) RCUT Improvement Project

Motorists advised to drive with caution, limit travel in work zone area

COVINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 21, 2022) – The Department of Highways District 6 Office advises drivers to watch for traffic movement changes along KY 3159 (Ted Bushelman) where crews are working on a road improvement and traffic reconfiguration project.

Crews will be milling on Friday, Sept. 23 then completing paving operations Monday, Sept. 26 to Wednesday, Sept. 28. Barrels and cones will be used to route traffic during paving operations. Once paving is complete, barrels will remain in place along the centerline until permanent Qwick Kurb can be installed.

The improvement project is to construct a new Reduced Conflict U-Turn (RCUT) on KY 3159 that will prohibit vehicles from making a left turn while traveling on KY 3159. RCUTS minimizes intersection traffic conflict points. The concept is a nationally proven method that safely and efficiently manages traffic volumes at intersections with multiple approaches along a divided highway. The general flow directs thru and left-turning traffic from side street approaches to turn right, proceed to a nearby U-turn and then proceed to an intended destination.

Motorists traveling through the active construction zone are advised to avoid the area, if possible, and to watch for trucks, equipment and personnel moving throughout the project area. Do not drive in the wrong direction or use business entrances as a U-Turn.

The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists can get Northern Kentucky road construction updates on District 6 Road Report.  Follow KYTC District 6 on our Facebook page at KYTC District 6 or on our Twitter page at KYTC District 6.  For Kentucky’s latest traffic and travel information, visit GoKy or navigate traffic by downloading the free Waze app at WAZE
