I-24 Eastbound Exit Ramp Closure at U.S. 45/U.S. 62 Paducah Exit 7 Monday Evening, Sept. 26
Eastbound exit ramp to close from 7 p.m., to 10 p.m. Monday night
PADUCAH, Ky. (Sept. 21, 2022) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to close the Interstate 24 eastbound exit ramp at the U.S. 45/U.S. 62 Paducah Exit 7 Interchange on Monday evening, September 26, 2022.
This eastbound exit ramp closure at the Paducah Exit 7 Interchange is expected to be in place from 7 p.m., CDT, to approximately 10 p.m. A portable message board has been placed at the exit to alert the public to this Monday evening ramp closure.
There will be no marked detour. However, motorists may self-detour via the U.S. 60 Paducah Exit 4 Interchange.
This closure of the eastbound exit ramp at Exit 7 is to allow placement of thermal rumble strips on the ramp to help alert motorists to slowed traffic ahead and the traffic signal at the end of the ramp.
Over the last five years, police crash reports showed 7 rear-end crashes on the eastbound Exit 7 exit ramp, as well as numerous crashes at the traffic signal on U.S. 62 at the top of the ramp.
This work is part of a Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) effort that includes safety enhancements at a number of intersections across the region.
