Adams Taps Nick Storm for Director of Communications
Seasoned, Award-Winning Journalist Brings Prestige and Political Savvy
Frankfort, Ky. (December 2, 2025) – Secretary of State Michael Adams has appointed Nick Storm to serve as Communications Director for the Office of the Secretary of State.
“Nick Storm is a top-shelf strategist and communicator who will bring both policy chops and political savvy to our Office,” said Adams.
As a political journalist, millions across the nation have seen Nick Storm on TV and read his stories in print. He is twice Emmy-nominated and the winner of the 2018 Society for Professional Journalists Louisville Chapter Investigative Report of the Year. He is also a 2015 recipient of the Green Dot award from the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs and the Kentucky Coalition against Domestic Violence, presented for reporting on behalf of victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and human trafficking.
“I’m honored to join Secretary Adams’ executive staff. What he has done in his short time in statewide office is nothing short of extraordinary, and he is deservedly recognized around the nation, most recently being named Governing Magazine’s Public Official of the Year, as well as receiving the JFK Profile in Courage Award in 2024,” Storm said. “I’m excited for the journey ahead and know Kentuckians will continue to be well served.”
Storm stepped away from journalism to work for the United States Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Kentucky from August 2018 until January 2021, during which he completed crisis communications training at the Robert Kennedy Main Justice Building. Storm returned to journalism after his time with the U.S. Department of Justice, founding Kentucky Fried Politics, where he also contributed nationally to print publications and made regular appearances on statewide TV and local radio programs. During that time, he also advised multi-billion-dollar corporations with thousands of employees, publicly traded companies, boards of directors, founders, and entrepreneurs, providing enhanced integrity due diligence, geopolitical risk management, select boutique public relations services, and media engagement training.
Storm most recently served as the Government Affairs Communications Manager for the Kentucky League of Cities. Storm started KLC's podcast 'City Stories' during his time with the league.
