Health Insurance and Flexible Spending Open Enrollment

The Kentucky Employees’ Health Plan (KEHP) is pleased to announce Open Enrollment for the 2013 plan year, October 8 through October 26, 2012. Again, this year, Open Enrollment will be a passive Open Enrollment, and the same health insurance plan options will be offered. You may not need to take any action to enroll for 2013. Please see below for guidelines.

  • Passive Enrollment: You DO NOT have to enroll online or with a paper application if you want your health insurance plan option and coverage level to remain the same as this year.

  •  You DO have to enroll if you need to:
    • Enroll in a Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or a Dependent Care FSA for plan year 2013 (You must reenroll in the Healthcare FSA or Dependent Care FSA each year.)
    • Add or drop a dependent
    • Change smoker/non-smoker status
    • Change plan options (Ex. Commonwealth Optimum to Commonwealth Standard or Commonwealth Capitol Choice to a Waiver HRA)
    • Change coverage levels (Ex. change from Single to Parent Plus coverage or from Family to Couple coverage)
    • Start, end or change a cross-reference payment option:
      • You must make your health insurance plan option election on a paper application.
      • You may make your Flexible Spending Account elections online.
    • If none of the above applies, you DO NOT have to enroll. Your current plan options will remain in place for plan year 2013.
  • Benefit Fairs: October 8 through October 18, 2012.

    • Go to kehp.ky.gov to find the fair closest to you.

    • Members have the opportunity to enroll online at the benefit fairs. KEHP representatives will be available to assist you in the online enrollment process.

    • HumanaVitality Checks® will be available at select locations.

    • Free flu shots are available at all benefit fairs (limited supply; first-come, first-served).

  • User ID letters: Letters are scheduled to be mailed no later than September 24, 2012. You will only receive one letter, which will include your user ID and instructions on how to create a password.
