Mayor Greg Fischer is continuing the city’s action to seek federal disaster assistance in the wake of
the recent record flooding by signing an order, declaring a local state of emergency. Fischer directed the city’s
Emergency Management Agency to lead the process of gathering all damage and
cost estimates citywide to be able to quickly apply for federal aid related to
both individual and public losses stemming from the record rainfall last week. Fischer also announced that
seven sites, spread throughout the community, will soon be available for
citizens to drop off flood debris at no charge. The
free service is available for residents of Louisville only and it does not
include commercial haulers.
*No
construction debris or yard waste will be accepted. To qualify for the free
drop-off residents must present the attendant with two forms of identification
verifying Louisville residency. If a citizen hires an individual or business to
remove debris, the citizen must accompany the hauler to the drop-off center or
provide the hauler with the same two forms of identification to present at the
facility.

Public Works crews will systematically go through the city’s streets patching potholes until all roads are covered, a process that should continue into late April.
Citizens are urged to report potholes to MetroCall by dialing 311 or 574-5000 or through an online form. Make sure you have the approximate address or nearest intersection.
Potholes on interstate highways should be reported to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet at 1-877-For-KYTC (367-5982).

Help your community by recycling! Our landfills are a finite resource with only so much space to hold all of our community's trash. Recycling as much as possible keeps reusable materials from going to the landfill and extends the landfill's life. Councilwoman Fowler has partnered with Solid Waste Management to provide a Recycling Bin at Sun Valley Park to allow Southwest residents to dispose of recyclable materials for FREE!
(Only Paper, Cardboard, Plastic, and Glass are allowed. No hazardous materials or containers are permitted.)
WHERE: Sun Valley Park
6505 Bethany Lane
*Recycling Bin open during Park Hours
