Last week Councilwoman Leet joined a few of her Metro Council colleagues as well as many of the Suburban Fire
Chiefs at the Kentucky Regional Fire Training Academy to better understand the
rigorous training that is required of our Suburban Fire Divisions. Councilwoman Leet saw the
"Burn" house where firefighters learn to handle the disorienting
effects of heat, smoke, and open flames caused by a fire.
Councilwoman Leet is grateful to the Suburban Fire Chiefs who took time out of their schedules to haul the gear and help the council members prepare for the training exercise. She enjoyed reminiscing with the fire fighters about her industrial fire training done at Texas A&M, which many of Jefferson County firefighters have also completed or even taught the course. This facility is an amazing opportunity for the firefighters in this community. This was a good opportunity for Councilwoman Leet and her colleagues to have this brief interaction to understand the importance of their training level and what these men and women do in service of our community.
