Louisville's snow routes focus on major roads, school and TARC bus routes, arteries to local employers and hospital and emergency routes. The Snow Team is led by Metro Public Works and also includes Metro Parks, Codes & Regulations, and Fleet and Facilities.
Before a snow or ice event hits, the snow teams also pretreat roads using brine. The city owns two of its own brine-makers, which together can produce 10,000 gallons of the salt-solution in an hour. It is then sprayed on dry pavement over 930 miles of brine routes that target main thoroughfares, hills and overpasses. Brine prevents moisture from adhering to the roadways and helps diminish icy roads.
Highlights of the 2014-2015 snow plan include:

As a part of an ongoing agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, city crews will treat and clear state roads other than interstate highways---about 400 miles of roads—in Louisville and the state will continue to clear all interstates and ramps.

 The products were recalled after learning that one or more of the spice ingredients purchased from a third party supplier contain peanuts and almonds, allergens that are not declared on the products’ ingredient statements.
The recall includes Taco Seasoning Mix, Ortega Taco Sauce, Ortega Enchilada Sauce and Ortega Taco Kit products and certain Las Palmas Taco Seasoning Mix and Las Palmas Taco Sauce.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts and almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
There is no health risk associated with these products for individuals without an allergy to peanuts or almonds.
The recalled products were distributed in retail stores and food service outlets nationwide.
This recall was initiated in consultation with the FDA after it was discovered that ingredients from a single supplier used in the affected products were contaminated with peanut and almond allergens. B&G Foods has since terminated its relationship with this supplier and is receiving these ingredients from other sources in anticipation of resuming production shortly.
This recall does not apply to any other sizes or varieties of Ortega Seasoning Mix or to any Ortega Seasoning Mixes in canisters, all of which are correctly labeled. For example, this recall does not include Ortega Fajita Seasoning Mix, Ortega Fish Taco Seasoning Mix, Ortega Chili Seasoning Mix, Ortega Chipotle Seasoning Mix or Ortega Burrito Seasoning Mix, all of which are correctly labeled. This recall also does not include any Las Palmas Enchilada Sauce, which is correctly labeled.

 The Chestnut Street Family YMCA is welcoming all to attend their Centennial Celebration to join in and help recreate the 1914 photo of the YMCA Building.
One hundred years ago on this date the cornerstone was laid for the Chestnut Street YMCA building. It was then the headquarters for the black fraternal group Knights of Pythias. It was built by black architects and black laborers and the community turned out in droves to celebrate. The YMCA moved there in 1953.
This event will take place on Wednesday November 26th at 8am outside of the YMCA Building located at 930 West Chestnut Street.
A photograph will be taken for the " Then-and-Now" display. It is asked the Professional Attire be wore for this occasion.
In May 2004, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) substantially approved many of the recommendations in Louisville International Airport’s proposed Noise Compatibility (Part 150) Program.
This approval affirmed four years of work by the more than 1,000 members of the Noise Compatibility Study Group to create a plan with the least amount of aircraft noise over the fewest number of families.
To monitor the implementation of the Noise Compatibility Program, the Louisville Regional Airport Authority (LRAA) convened a Community Noise Forum (CNF) that includes designated representatives from all airport stakeholders, including:
The LRAA’s Board of Directors, LRAA Management, Louisville Air Traffic Control staff, Louisville Airport Affairs Committee, Kentucky Air National Guard, United Parcel Service, General Aviation community at SDF, University of Louisville, Louisville Metro Government, Airport Neighbors’ Alliance (ANA), Southern Indiana and community representatives from each quadrant bounding the airport.
Meetings are open to the public, and are normally held the fourth Monday of every other month at 6 p.m. at the Louisville Regional Airport Authority’s Administration Building, 700 Administration Drive, just east of the passenger (departing flights) terminal. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 24, 2014.
