Hazelwood Elementary Holds Career Days!

Several residents and business people went to Hazelwood Elementary to participate in Career Days. Students heard from electric officials, nurses, fire fighters, police officers, business owners, lawyers, etc... Students asked questions related to skills required for the field, educational attainment/requirements, working conditions, starting pay and opportunities for advancement. Councilwoman Butler is shown speaking to 5th graders. If you would like to participate next year, contact Annette Darnell at 485-7150.

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular Returns to Iroquois Park

Brightside and Waste Management of Kentucky Premium Compost Sale Returns

Pre-bagged compost will sell for $2.50 per bag and a Bobcat scoop is $30. Proceeds from the compost sale benefit Brightside’s community education and beautification efforts.

Volunteer opportunities at South Louisville Community Ministries!

Meals on Wheels: Meal delivery is Monday - Friday from 10:30 A.M. to noon. Meals are delivered to homebound seniors in South Louisville who are not able to prepare meals for themselves. Anyone interested can deliver as often as once a week or as little as once a month.

Food Packer: Food packers are responsible packing up food for clients at the Ministries’ office. The pantry is open from 1-4 P.M. every weekday. Volunteers provide food orders to families. Food packers also provide baby, personal and hygiene items per client request.  Additionally, volunteers are needed from 10-noon each weekday to help shelve food items and pre-pack orders.
