No Garbage, Recycling or Yard Waste Pickup Monday
Labor Day holiday means one-day collection delay next week There will be no residential garbage, recycling or yard waste collection within the Louisville Metro Urban Services District (former Louisville city limits) on Labor Day, Monday September 1, 2014. Collection through the week will be delayed by one day because of the holiday.
Residents who rely on private haulers for garbage, recycling and yard waste collection should consult those haulers about holiday collection schedules.
Also, Jefferson County recycling, hazardous waste and waste reduction facilities will be closed on Saturday August 30 in recognition of the holiday and closed on Monday as usual.

It’s that time of year again! The 10th annual RBA Light-up Riverport Golf Scramble will be held at the Iroquois Golf Course. This annual event helps keep the RBA employees safe and the facilities secure. Breakfast will be served beginning at 6:30 followed by a shotgun start at 7:00. When the last team returns from play there will be a Texas Roadhouse lunch and a presentation of trophies and door prizes. A professional photographer will be on hand to take team pictures. Northern Overlook Concept Design Plan Recap
There was an good turnout for the August 19 meeting at Iroquois Amphitheater, where the project team and consultants shared the concept design plan for the Northern Overlook Restoration Project at Iroquois Park. Taylor Blvd & Bluegrass Ave. Corner to get Major Commercial Development
A developer has filed a plan for a major commercial development on the northwest corner of Taylor Boulevard and Bluegrass Avenue in southern Louisville. The site plan filed recently with the Metro Department of Planning and Design Services shows consolidation of the current 11 lots at 4152-4178 Taylor into three commercial lots. Better Lawns at Little or No Additional Cost with the New Yard Waste Container Regulation
Now is the time to start preparing for voluntary compliance during the upcoming fall leaf season with the new Jefferson County Yard Waste Container Regulation that becomes mandatory in January 2015. The preferred methods of handling yard waste are no-cost or low-cost and yield better lawns. All of the information you need is contained in the "Citizens Guide to Yard Waste at Home and a Frequently Asked Questions list".They are part of a broader education and awareness campaign that includes media appearances, neighborhood organization meetings, public service announcements, and social media.
