Design Recommendation for Northern Overlook at Iroquois Park Presented Aug. 19

Iroquois Park, the oldest of Louisville’s big 3 Olmsted parks, dates back to 1891.  The Louisville Metro Parks Department presented a design recommendation for the Northern Overlook Reconstruction in Iroquois Park on Tuesday Aug. 19.

In July, park goers were able to take a walking tour and suggest ideas for the restoration project. Yet great views of downtown Louisville and the rest of Jefferson County from the Northern Overlook.

Iroquois Park is one of the last parks to be updated.  The idea is to improve the overlook’s sustainability and make it less prone to erosion while creating a welcoming space for the public.  Cars will be located a little distance away from the actual viewing area and it will be a very enjoyable short walk to the view itself.  The project is estimated to cost $1 million.
