JCPS School of Innovation Design Competition

During 2013-14, the Jefferson County Public School District is conducting the School of Innovation Design Competition to identify and develop the best, most innovative ideas for a new JCPS school.

Everyone is welcome to submit an idea.  Competition participants can be parents, students; business leaders, college and university faculty; teachers, administrators, and staff; members of community organizations; education advocates; and others.

Initial applications will be judged and finalists chosen by a Design Review Panel made up of a diverse array of educations, community leaders, and stakeholders.  From finalists selected by the panel, the Jefferson County Board of Education will select the ultimate competition winner(s).

Participants must submit a letter of intent by December 10, 2013.

Applications are due January 31, 2014.

Better Business Bureau Offers Tips For Safe Online Shopping

 

Starting with "Cyber Monday", shopping online is increasingly becoming a preferred way to buy holiday gifts. Shopping online may mean avoiding the crowds, but it also opens the buyer up to attacks from scammers and hackers. They target Internet users through a variety of methods, including online shopping scams, fraudulent emails, e-card and phishing schemes, and more. In order to fight these online grinches, the Better Business Bureau recommends 10 tips for staying safe when online during the holidays:

Texting While Driving Now Costs 3 Points Against a Kentucky Driver's License

Now, drivers cited for texting while driving will lose three points against their license. The Transportation Cabinet can suspend a license if a driver gets more than 12 points in a two-year span. For drivers younger than 18, the threshold is seven points. The regulations went into effect in November after a legislative committee gave no objections according to a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman.
